What is Brainspotting

Brainspotting session in Alaska

If you've been searching for Brainspotting in Anchorage, Eagle River, or the Valley, you've probably already sensed that talk therapy alone hasn't reached the root of what you're carrying. Brainspotting is designed for exactly that. At Radiant Worth Counseling, I use Brainspotting as a gentle but powerful way to support healing that goes beyond talk therapy.

I often tell clients that so much of what we carry- trauma, anxiety, grief, performance pressure, and old emotional patterns- doesn’t just live in the mind. It lives in the body and nervous system. Brainspotting helps us access those deeper places in a way that is focused, contained, and respectful of your pace.

In a session, I’ll help you slow down and notice what’s happening internally while we identify specific eye positions, called “brainspots.” These points aren’t about doing anything perfectly or analyzing your experience. Instead, they help your brain and body naturally focus in a way that allows emotional processing to unfold from the inside out.

You don’t have to retell every detail of what you’ve been through. We don’t force your story. Instead, I follow your nervous system and stay with you as it leads the process. Many clients find this approach to feel surprisingly quiet, grounding, and deeply internal.

Over time, Brainspotting can help reduce the intensity of trauma responses, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. It can also support people who feel “stuck,” shut down, or caught in patterns that are hard to shift through insight alone.

What I notice most in my work is that change often isn’t just about symptoms improving—it’s about how people begin to feel in their own bodies and lives again. More steadiness. More ease. More connection to self.

Brainspotting can be especially helpful for:

  • Trauma

  • Grief and loss

  • Anxiety

  • The pressure that comes with high achievement and high expectations

Your system can move at a pace that feels safe, supported, and real — and my goal is simply to create the space for that.
